Tottenham reportedly planning swoop for £52m Rated Serbian Wide Man

Benfica attacking midfielder Andrija Zivkovic is a transfer target for the club, according to A Bola (via Teamtalk).

The Portuguese tabloid report that we have been scouting the Serbian, along with a number of other Premier League teams including Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

The player has a €60m (£52m) release clause, and it is said that Mauricio Pochettino and the club are willing to meet the buyout fee in order to recruit the midfielder.

There are many reasons why I don’t think this story has much going for it. For starters, Zivkovic has only really been a bit part player for Benfica this season.

He only really got into the first team at the beginning of February, and has been playing centrally in the no.10 role, rather than in his more recognised position out wide.

On top of that, the 21 year old hasn’t really contributed much in the way of goals and assists either. He has hit the back of the net just three times, and created five other goals.

I can’t see why the club would shell out so much many on a player who has 18 starts in all competitions this campaign, and would play in a position we are already well stocked for already.
