Tottenham Reportedly Keen To Recruit Target Man With £16m Buyout Clause

|

The Mirror are reporting that we are pursuing West Brom striker Salomon Rondon, with Chelsea and West Ham also interested in the Venezuelan.

Mauricio Pochettino is likely seeking a replacement for Fernando Llorente, who has been tipped to depart the club after just one season.

Rondon is said to have a buyout clause of £16m after the Baggies’ relegation to the Championship. He was one of the few players who performed well for the club last season, although his seven goals in 36 league games is nothing to write home about.

He has never been a prolific scorer in England with just 28 in total for West Brom during a three-year spell at the Hawthorns.

As a target man, he would be a like-for-like replacement for the outgoing Llorente, but whether he would be an improvement, I’m not so sure.

While spending a large amount on a striker who would be back up to Harry Kane is unlikely, there are likely better options on the market than the Baggies no.9.
