Tottenham Reportedly Have Enquiry Turned Down For Serie A Midfield General

|

Napoli have turned down an enquiry from us for their midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to Sport Italia (via Football-Italia.net).

We have reportedly been tracking the Guinean for quite a long time, and we are said to have asked about the player’s availability this summer.

Diawara struggled for game time at the Partenopei under Maurizio Sarri last season, starting only 13 times in all competitions and making 27 appearances in total.

However, new head coach Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be keen to keep hold of the 20-year-old.

The defensive midfielder signed from Bologna for €14.5m two years ago, but he has never established himself as a first-team regular despite being a highly rated player.

Napoli have tended to play with Jorginho as their midfield anchor man, with Marek Hamsik and Allan playing the more attacking central midfield roles.

The likely departure of the Italian international to Manchester City may have changed the Serie A side’s stance on keeping Diawara.
