Christian Eriksen stated he is happy at the club, despite rumours linking him with a move away.

The Mirror report that there have been suggestions that Barcelona could make a bid for him in the summer, but speaking to the media whilst on international duty, the Dane was dismissive of the claims:

‘To be honest, I do not think about [interest from elsewhere].You play football in the present, but you also have dreams. Dreams are one thing, but they are only realistic when [an offer] is on the table.Right now, most people are very happy at Tottenham and I am also.’

The bit where he says he has “dreams” does kind of suggest he has ideas of where he would like to move on to in the future, but it`s also clear from what he says he isn`t aware of any team that is looking to sign him at the moment. That is great to hear.

Our no.23 has a contract that expires in 2020 so he has two and a half years left to run on his current deal. There were rumours in January that there was a new offer on the table to Christian from the club, but there haven`t been any further developments since then.

Certainly I would like to see some movement on the contract front in the next 6-12 months or so before things get too close to comfort like with Toby.

  • okay. he knows of no one trying to sign him at the moment and he’s okay with that, but the wording, granted it’s not a quote, makes it sound like he could pivot on a penny farthing. I’m happy he’s with us, too, but he surely doesn’t sound like he’s making a commitment. hope he stays for the foreseeable future. Quite like the way he plays. puts in effort and has plenty of talent. Let’s hope to hold onto him, and it’s nice to hear he has no other plans at the moment. ????

  • Christian dismissed Barca because he’s holding out for Madrid …. that’s what the media ‘spin’ will say!

  • One suspects if Barca or Madrid come calling his head would naturally be turned but luckily we have Alli and Lamela who are also play-makers. Alli may well have been signed as his long term replacement if someone throw a spanner in the works and all the more reason to sign Malcom in the summer – have talent already in house to cover should the un-wanted happen in the big Spanish 2 come in for him. This was also why I wanted to keep Janssen as regards Kane but he has not performed like Alli or Lamela then again he’s not been given as much of a chance one would have to argue. We’ve spent around £30m on Janssen and Llorente and so far not resolved the problem, like I say we’ve got options for Ericksen I believe but obviously Kane is a much bigger problem. Also with Ericksen you can change your formation for example incorporate a couple of wingers (Moura and Malcom eg) instead of him if was to leave but with Kane you’ll still need another striker atleast. As long as we keep Kane who is so crucial given his superior talent hopefully we can keep hold of Ericksen’s mercurialness aswell, not to mention all the others like Alli, Alderweireld, Rose, etc! It’s ridiculous to think how talented the squad is and how we’ve yet to win anything though people are forgetting we won the CL race now 2 season’s in a row hence why we’ll be able to keep them by increasing our wage ceiling and getting more similar players all be it by un-earthing gems – who can afford a £113m Bale after all?!?!?!

  • £150m please – that’s what it would take to prise him away – cash in hand lol. Kane £200m although I’ve heard of Levy asking £300m so who knows the asking price for Ericksen – £200m?! Ridiculous but as a fan and a share-holder that’s how talented they are, do not want to see them leave and hopefully the asking price will be too much even for the big Spanish 2. We can truly build something around these 2 at our new stadium so I hope they can see it – he does allude to it by saying everyone is pretty happy at Spurs at the moment and that now we’re challenging for titles as for when he arrived we weren’t. It would be good to see some trophies fall because I think we deserve them but that’s football for you – lets wait and see what happens – it’s in their hands.

  • Again, why not wait until something actually happens, someone makes a bid ? I’m getting really bored with these nothing articles.
