Leicester City have joined a long list of clubs pursuing Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira, according to TMW reporter Michele Pavese.

We have been linked with the Portuguese international in the past and the Italian website reports that we are still in the race, along with Arsenal, Everton, Juventus and the Foxes.

Serge Aurier’s form since arriving from PSG in the summer hasn’t exactly been stellar, and we shouldn’t rule out a possible move for another full-back to provide more competition for the likes of Kieran Trippier.

Whether Pereira would be the right solution, it’s difficult to say. He is relatively young at 24 and could improve under Poch if he makes the move to the club.

However, TMW report he would cost at least £25m, and with the club having more pressing concerns in other areas of the pitch, like possibly having to replace Mousa Dembele, a move for the defender may not be a priority.

Leicester could well be a rival for the right-back though. Manager Claude Puel worked with the player at Nice two years ago.

  • Why sign another right back? I’d rather see Kyle Walker-Peters given a bit more game time. He’s done nothing wrong in the few fleeting opportunities he has been given. If I remember rightly he was even official Man of the match in the game against Newcastle at the beginning of the season. Aurier has been both brilliant and a liability at times, but hopefully that’s down to getting used his new surroundings and the Premier league and the sloppy mistakes will fizzle out.

  • Maybe this so called interest in signing a new right back, could be competition for Aurier, who I think is going through a settling in/teething season, so will be ready for next season, I also think it could be the sign to tell us Trippier is on his way out, and that KWP will be loaned out for more playing time, thing is what do I know its all guess work.
