Spurs eye summer swoop for “beast” who bullied Messi, Levy told to pay over £35m – report

|

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be in the market for a new central defender this summer.

This doesn’t come as too much of a surprise with the north Londoners set to lose Jan Vertonghen at the end of the season whilst Juan Foyth’s future is by no means certain.

He’s been linked with both a permanent exit as well as a temporary switch to possible promotion-winners Leeds United.

According to the Telegraph, Spurs are keen on South Korean talent Kim Min-jae whilst Jose Mourinho is also a keen admirer of Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.

Should Spurs sign Diego Carlos?

No way!

And a move for the latter could be an interesting call to make – but only if Daniel Levy coughs up over £35m, which certainly makes a deal appear rather difficult.

But if there’s a player the club should splash out on this summer, then it has to be the 27-year-old following an impressive campaign in La Liga.

Carlos has previously been linked with a move to Premier League champions Liverpool and amid their interest, he was described as a “beast” who had “easily” been one of the top three defenders in the division by Spanish football expert Domagoj Kostanjsak.

He evened likened him to another one of Spurs’ mooted targets, Kalidou Koulibaly.

These glowing endorsements have been fully merited, too – just last week, the Brazillian colossus bullied Lionel Messi and Barcelona, earning his side a respectable 0-0 draw.

'When he scored the goal the game finished for him. After that I needed 11 players for my defensive organisation and I had just 10.'

Carlos picked up a WhoScored rating of 7.32 after recording five clearances, three interceptions and one key pass against the lethal Barca attack.

Across the course of 2019/20’s broken campaign, the 6 foot 1 defender has averaged a whopping 5.1 clearances, 1.1 tackles and 2.6 aerial duels won each match, once again via WhoScored.

Mourinho is an admirer and will be desperate to bolster a backline that is currently ranked as the joint-worst in the PL’s top ten, thus leaving the call with Levy.

The Spurs owner should really invest in a player like this if his Portuguese boss is to bring success back to north London.

Oh No not another player Levy will not buy.
Why doesn’t the Little Toad come clean and just tell the Fans we have Cocked Up over Ndombele so we won’t be spending any more money.
We just need NEW OWNERS of SPURS.
