“Stealing a wage”, “Get rid” – Loads of Spurs fans blast “liability” who lost possession 17x

|

Tottenham Hotspur supporters were left absolutely fuming on Thursday evening as their hopes of qualifying for Europe took a monumental dent.

Jose Mourinho’s side were well-beaten by Sheffield United, meaning they are now some seven points adrift of the top five with just six games remaining in the season.

The Blades scored against the run of play and never looked back. Sander Berge netted just after the hour mark, rounding off a swift counter-attack and the visitors thought they had equalised just seconds later but Harry Kane’s effort was controversially ruled out for handball.

If you can only bolster one full-back position this summer, do you...?

Buy a left-back

Buy a right-back

Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie made matters worse in the second half before the Englishman nabbed a late consolation strike.

Some of the Spurs faithful were less than impressed with the game and the display from Ben Davies has been singled out for criticism on social media.

The 27-year-old picked up the second-worst rating (6.2) on SofaScore as he lost possession 17 times, had just four of his 14 long balls come off and won just one duel.

Davies was blasted for being a “pure liability” as well as being “trash” whilst others believe he’s stealing a wage from the club.

Here’s how the rest of the fanbase reacted…

We need to get rid of the complete back line and start afresh. Maybe Dier is the best of a bad bunch. However, the one we need to get rid of is Mourinho ,he never gives youth a chance unlike Poch who in my view ,was the best manager we have had since Bill Nicholson. Pochettino gave youth a chance and was responsible for promoting more club players from club level to Internationals in his tenure at Southampton and Spurs. Levy made him a scapegoat due to his own failings in the transfer market. Gloomy times ahead for Spurs I’m afraid.
