Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their pursuit of Tanguy Ndombele.
The transfer saga involving the Olympique de Lyonnais star has had a number of twists and turns already – with Spurs initially opening talks with the French outfit, however, it would seem we were far from meeting the asking price that had been set (Sky Sports).
There has also been a degree of confidence at the club that we will finally be able to sign Ndombele this summer (Evening Standard) and a report in Italy might only help to provide us with a further boost in terms of a deal happening.
According to Tuttermercatoweb, Lyon are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Empoli’s Ismael Bennacer this summer.
Jean-Michel Aulas has made it clear that their 22-year-old star would not be leaving the club unless they signed a replacement and it would seem they have identified one man that could meet that particular criteria.
Should Bennacer be signed, it would surely make our efforts in trying to get a deal for Ndombele over the line that bit easier – although much of it will certainly have to be down to Daniel Levy and whether he is willing to open his wallet wide enough to splash the cash.
Although there is nothing concrete to suggest that the former Arsenal midfielder’s potential arrival would allow Lyon to let their France international leave, things certainly do appear to point in a very promising direction for Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham this summer.
