Tottenham man ruled out of Liverpool clash, Pochettino has two players who could replace him

|

Tottenham have confirmed they’ll be without Serge Aurier for Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool. The 26-year-old picked up a hamstring injury on international duty with the Ivory Coast. Aurier was substituted against Rwanda in the week and had undergone assessment days before the Liverpool clash. He’s not been passed fit, however.

Aurier hasn’t been a regular in the starting lineup this season, but he had played in both legs of Tottenham’s Champions League last-16 clash with Borussia Dortmund in February and March, and also featured against Burnley last month. In his absence, Mauricio Pochettino could turn to Kieran Trippier or Kyle Walker-Peters.

Aurier has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season – eight of which have come in the Premier League, five in the Champions League, three in the EFL Cup and one in the FA Cup. In the league, he’s made 17 clearances, won 12 aerial duels (44%), made 34 passes-per-game with 76% accuracy and has averaged a tackle (20) or interception (7) every 21 minutes.

Walker-Peters started against Southampton before the international break, but Trippier is fit and available for selection so he could get the nod at right-back.
