Tottenham man doubtful ahead of Burnley clash, hasn’t played for two weeks

|

Tottenham have confirmed that Danny Rose is a doubt ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Burnley. The 28-year-old hasn’t played for nearly two weeks and is currently suffering from an illness that threatens to keep him out of action over the weekend. And with Ben Davies only just returning to training, Jan Vertonghen might be forced to play at left-back.

Rose has made 20 appearances in all competitions, 15 of which have come in the Premier League. He’s played in each of their last four games, the last of which was against Leicester City on February 10 but didn’t feature in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund (February 13). A late decision will be made by Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League table with 60 points from 26 games, coming off the back of four consecutive wins against Fulham (2-1), Watford (2-1), Newcastle United (1-0) and Leicester (3-1). Victory over an in-form Burnley on Saturday could see Spurs narrow the gap to first-placed Manchester City and second-placed Liverpool to just two points.

Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday while Man City’s next league game is against West Ham United on February 27.
