Hopefully we will see a fitter and more cohesive Tottenham tonight (or it it morning?) in the clubs final game in the USA.

As I have mentioned previously, the performances are secondary at this stage of the teams preparation, but you hope that game upon game, the players look sharper and they gain a greater insight into the new managers tactics, but as is usually the case the side will be hampered by injuries and absentees, which makes preparation all the harder and progress difficult to measure.

At this stage, I assume that Jermain Defoe will still be unavailable, which though offers another opportunity fot Harry Kane. I still question whether he will stay or go on loan, in the next few weeks. But however well he may do, it is clearly a problem to again have to prepare without an established striker.

The same applies to the likes of Sandro, Giovani, Caulker and Rose, whilst injury to Parker going into the start of the season may be opportunities to impress or salvage Spurs careers for some, but frustratingly is hampers the impact that AVB can have, and you can imagine all of those players either being key figures or having an opportunity to prove their quality.

New York Red Bulls are currently top of the MLS Eastern Conference and have a few familier names of note, with Thierry Henry, Tim Cahill, who has just signed from Everton and a certain Teemu Taino (though perhaps he will be injured). With a game on Friday, NYRB’s have already stated that this will be a game filled with Substitutions and the majority of players will play no more than 45 minutes, and to a degree I expect Spurs to do much the same.

At least this being shown at midnight (GMT) we can at least attempt to watch the game and be fit for work the next day, and as much as I understand the need for players to gain form and fitness over an outstanding performance, it would be nice to see something to get excited about for my loss of sleep…
