Tottenham defender ‘back in training’ and ‘set to be available’ to face Crystal Palace

Kyle Walker-Peters has been out of action for more than two weeks after injuring his hamstring against Newcastle United (August 25), but the 22-year-old is nearing a return. According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider, Walker-Peters has been spotted ‘back in training’ and is ‘set to be available’ to face Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The England u21 international has made three Premier League appearances this season – 3-1 win over Aston Villa (August 10), 2-2 draw with Manchester City (August 17), 1-0 defeat to Newcastle. He missed Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal (September 1) due to injury but appears to have made a full recovery during the international break.

Despite having Serge Aurier available, Mauricio Pochettino has preferred to use Davinson Sanchez as a makeshift right-back in Walker-Peters’ stead. Juan Foyth is still injured and the Spurs boss may not have felt Aurier was fit enough given his lack of playing time this season – unused substitute twice, omitted from the matchday squad twice.

Walker-Peters looks set to be a regular at right-back for Tottenham this season, having edged himself ahead of Aurier and Foyth in the pecking order.
