Tottenham And The ‘Fear Factors’

Tottenham and the ‘fear factors’!

A glorious night at the ‘Theatre of Doom’ provided another impressive performance to add to our ever growing list of impressive performances in Europe. We were losing until Barca introduced their ‘fear factor’ … Mr Messi. What a difference he made!

But then we introduced one of our own ‘fear factors’ and got the required result. Does that mean Lucas is a better sub than Messi? Does that mean that we have more ‘fear factors’ in our team than Barca? Does that mean we are the best team in Europe? Of course it doesn’t …. but aren’t they great questions?

It’s good to know that we still have draws in our locker when we need them! And now we have to wait for a few days to find out who our next European opponents will be. Whatever happens next, we have progressed from the group stage and added to our ‘non-existent’ transfer kitty. And our reputation among the elite clubs has suffered not at all. So …. bring it on!

This, to me, seems to be a really strange season. Results do not seem to have come in the usual way. We have played many more away games than home games and have still managed to accumulate a healthy amount of points. The football gods appear to be on our side. In fact they seem to be so much on our side that I’m starting to wonder if this is to be a ‘glory’ season. I wonder how it will all end if we manage to beat City and Pool when we next meet them? It’s nice to have the occasional wonder.

With a string of very winnable games in the league to come, some of which may be played in our new home, the immediate future is looking very Danny … I mean Rosy. I should point out, on behalf of our less enthusiastic supporters, that it’s football and we could lose our next twenty games, or not. Who knows?

The one telling point so far seems to be the depth (yes, that’s right) of our playing squad. No matter what selection issues our manager has had he has almost always been able to produce a starting eleven with a solid performance attached to it …. whether it’s a hard-fought game, or not.

One thing is sure …. this Spurs team is full of its own ‘fear factors’ and our future opponents will have to consider all of them.
