Tottenham agree to sign up for European Super League in betrayal of fans

Tottenham have agreed to sign up for the closed tournament called the European Super League in direct competition with UEFA Champions League, leaving fans devastated.

They have joined Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal in what is an unbelievable show of greed from the higher-up of the hierarchy at the club, with financial benefits obviously being the main benefit of joining the competition.

Their official league statement said, “In exchange for their commitment, founding clubs will receive an amount of €3.5bn (£3bn) to support their infrastructure investment plans and to offset the impact of the COVID pandemic.”

While the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain have so far turned the opportunity to join the competition along with other clubs in their respective countries, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the other six clubs to have agreed to join so far – with a further three clubs expected to sell their soul too.

Florentino Pérez, who is currently president of Real Madrid and will become the first chairman of the Super League, said: “We will help football at every level and take it to its rightful place in the world.

“Football is the only global sport in the world with more than four billion fans and our responsibility as big clubs is to respond to their desires.”

His quotes, however, are in direct correlation of what the four billion fans want, and there is a very acute minority of fans who are actually behind these plans.

FIFA, UEFA and the FA as well as the Italian Serie A and Spanish La Liga have condemned the plans, and have warned that any team who has joined could receive sanctions and bans.

It is believed that the big six who have joined will be barred from competing in the FA Cup and potentially the Premier League too, while players who are playing for the club in the European Super League will be banned from representing their countries.

Our fingers remained crossed that Daniel Levy, the higher-ups at the club and ENIC realise their incredibly stupid errors in agreeing to enter into this farce, as plenty of our supporters look set to support different teams or their local clubs instead of Spurs.

“We must always consider our supporters, for without them there would be no professional football. It would be better to have more fans watching football the way they like it played, rather than have a few fans watching football the way we would like it played.” – Bill Nicholson
