“Too tempting for Levy” – Journalist claims Spurs may negotiate “amazing” £80k-p/w attacker

According to an update courtesy of reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold during a football.london Q&A, chairman Daniel Levy may want to sell attacker Erik Lamela if a ‘decent bid‘ comes in from Italy or elsewhere – claiming that the negotiation may be ‘too tempting‘.

Lamela, who has made 222 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions since signing from AS Roma back in 2013, scoring 33 goals and assisting 48 others in that time, has arguably been a good servant for the Lilywhites in flashes – but a multitude of injury problems could tempt Levy into selling the Argentine this summer.

Should Spurs sell Lamela?

Yes, make it happen Levy

No, still has more to offer

Once hailed as ‘amazing‘ by manager Jose Mourinho for his fighting spirit, clawing his way back into contention in north London, Lamela could face even more competition in future if we were to sign any more attacking players this window – and the prospect of selling him for a decent bid seems too enticing to ignore.

Journalist Gold, speaking in a Q&A, has confirmed that the 28-year-old may be among the most likely to leave Tottenham – even if Mourinho is a fan of the player.

“As much as I, and more importantly Mourinho, like him, Lamela has always felt like the player Spurs might get a decent bid from Italy for,” stated the football.london journalist.

“Likely take due to those injury problems over the years. He loves Spurs but I just think it might be too tempting for Levy.”

The £80,000-per-week ace has been a regular under our boss since the Premier League’s restart, but he has managed to accumulate the highest rate of fouls on average out of any other player in the English top flight – perhaps testament to his combative style of play.

Now, with the summer transfer window right around the corner, Lamela could be one of the players up for sale in future – with Levy apparently open if offers do come in.
