Time to Chop the Deadwood

We are all thrilled, nay, should I say ecstatic about the transfer window additions to the Tottenham first team squad(long may it continue!).

Unfortunately however, there are still some players in the squad that definitely do not, as should be the case, bring the look of sheer excitement to the fans’ faces at the very mention of their names.

We have done some great business on this front already with England’s No1 moving to Blackburn in search of fresh inspiration and the Sunderland three who decided it best they join the Keane revolution in the far flung North East.

The only blot on the landscape so far was that that other Keane(who just happened to be our Vice Captain)deserted us much against our wishes in favour of the idyllic surroundings of Liverpool where the streets are paved with hubcaps and burnt out cars.

We have still a lot of work to do on this front in order for us to be rid of those who in no way, shape, or form are going to grace our first eleven with their presence.

We need to find suitable employment for them a.s.a.p. in order to permanently remove them from the wages bill and bolster our transfer funds for those players we are currently actively pursuing.

Rocha, Boateng and Lee will not get many, if any, minutes on the pitch, and Gilberto will certainly be used sparingly now that Ekotto has proved he can do a job as cover for Bale.

Staltieri was on loan at Fulham, as is Gardner, now at Hull, but will he be coming back to haunt us at some stage?

Why oh why can’t we seem to just bloody sell them!?Especially Gardner who just keeps on turning up like a bad penny.

Ghaly is, as far as I know in limbo; still on our books without a prayer of playing for us, while the Kaboul transfer saga seems to be dragging on and on and no nearer to being resolved.

That leaves us with two players over which there are still big question marks.Cuddly Martin Jol is apparently wishing to whisk Zokora off to Hamburg while Ferguson’s dream at Utd is to see Berbatov dressed in red.

I say if the deals can be done then why not let them go. If we can bring in suitable replacements in good time with the money we have then what is the problem?

One thing is for sure though.Things need to start happening very very quickly.
