A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have heaped praise on Erik Lamela following the part he played in helping us to victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend.
With Lamela often criticised for his consistency in games and the fact he either appears to shine or simply shrink when the going gets tough, the last few games – despite results not going for us – have seen him come in for some praise for his own efforts when on the pitch and given he’s used mostly as a substitute by manager Mauricio Pochettino, some think he’s now done enough to earn a run of starts.
Spurs did, of course, get back to winning ways at the Amex Stadium and Lamela grabbed our second on the day so that certainly didn’t count against him.
Good finish that. You know you’re getting 100% from him as well

But obviously Poch will stubbornly persist with Eriksen as the no10 even tho he’s completely forward-pass-phobic

Massive season for him after so many injuries, he always works hard, but this really is a make or break year. So far so good.

Would start him 100% over eriksen at the moment. Always wants the ball. Not scared of a bit of physicality. Coco ????????

I have no doubt of his quality, I just hope he can stay fit!

Lamela's a starter for me all day long…

Stunning finish. A very classy player.

How fans don’t see what he does is silly. He plays box to box and is one of few players to play with grit and toughness. If he was from England he’d be thought of as better than Dele

Having seen plenty of negatives comments about him on social media it’s good to see him getting the plaudits he deserves for a change as whilst others continue searching for the next gear in their own performances, he can definitely make a difference for us in the meantime.
Quite why it seems to be Lamela or Christian Eriksen is a little beyond me, but then again so is the way they take it in turns to be on the receiving end of criticism.
