The FA are set to contact Tottenham Hotspur today to discuss the incident last night when a ‘supporter’ ran onto the pitch and attacked Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard.

What a shame that an idiot such as this marred what was a great couple of matches. Yes, I know we lost but for goodness sake, this is football and these two matches had it all as far as I’m concerned and was a great advert for the FA Cup. Then you get a dick like this, lets not call him a fan, no REAL football fan behaves like this and brings his club into such disrepute.

A spokesman from the FA said:

‘These scenes were totally unacceptable and we will be contacting Spurs as a matter of priority. We want to establish what safety and security provisions were in place for the game and to confirm what action was taken against the fans who ran onto the pitch.’

‘We understand that both individuals were arrested and we would expect them to be given football banning orders.’

Not sure about banning orders, I’d have thought a month or so in prison to wake them and all other fans who consider taking such actions would be a good shout, or do we want to go back to the days where fans are put behind fences and ‘caged in’? I don’t think so, not for this minority of tits.

Frank Lampard is quoted in The Mirror today, the England midfielder said, ‘I saw the guy coming, I kept my eye on him and just ducked out of the way when he tried to catch me. I think maybe he’d had a few drinks but there was a lot of emotion, a lot of feeling and we were celebrating in front of our own fans. But when a fan gets on the pitch that’s too much for me.’

A second ‘fan’ also ran on the pitch was blocked by stewards. Both were arrested.

As a Spurs fan says, also quoted in The Mirror said: ‘It was disgraceful. That yob could have had a knife or anything.’

Only area of concern is that this could now cost Spurs but what more can any club do to stop these isolated incidents of idiots who can’t control themselves? I think a Blues fan was jailed for doing similar at Villa in their derby, maybe the same will happen here to deter more of these unsavoury incidents.

Some fans have said that the Chelsea players incited fans, again a quote from the Mirror:

‘Lampard and Ashley Cole had been celebrating in front of the Chelsea fans but then they turned to the Tottenham fans and started rubbing it in that they’d won. The two blokes obviously just lost it when they saw that. It was out of order for the Chelsea players to be so over the top – but that doesn’t justify what this thug did.’

In some ways they should know better, they should learn to grow up and not bait the crowd BUT do we not dish it out to them in spades? We give abuse and wind up players, why are we so surprised when they gesture back? I know, highly paid, professionals etc etc, but they are only young and not always that bright it has to be said, some of the things chanted and shouted at players is nothing short of disgusting!

As a Spurs fan, I’m just sorry this has happened, sorry for Lampard and Didier Drogba who also took some flack and sorry that just two people can bring our great club into disrepute.
