|Tottenham Hotspur||Cardiff City|
Tottenham Hotspur were at Wembley Stadium earlier today for the Premier League clash against newly promoted Cardiff City.
Looking to bounce back from midweek Champions League disappointment following the defeat to Barcelona, Neil Warnock’s side were definitely going to be chalk and cheese in terms of the performance fans could expect from the visitors at this time of asking.
Eric Dier’s early eighth-minute goal proved to be enough to turn all three points in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s direction, but a 1-0 victory with the opposition down to ten men for just over 30 minutes in the game – especially as they languish winless at the bottom of the table – is hardly going to inspire much joy or confidence, and for many it definitely wasn’t the commanding performance and response they’d have liked to have seen after Barcelona disappointment.
A win is always a win, however, but I think plenty will believe the game itself is summed up by the fact they managed one shot on target less than we did despite only having 24% of the possession.
