Three forwards targeted by Paratici for Spurs

|

Spurs are set for a crazy summer this season with the imminent arrival of Paulo Fonseca as new manager and the already confirmed addition of Sporting Director Fabio Paratici, who has been tasked with overhauling the squad and bringing in fresh faces.

Some of the names that have been linked with the club have had supporters in dreamland, with the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala (AGAIN).

However, one position that it looks like is being prioritised along with the defence and midfield, is the right-wing position which Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn are currently fighting for – but with all three expected to be offered the opportunity to leave this summer, three names have popped up as key targets for Paratici.

Marcus Thuram – Borussia Monchengladbach

Marcus Thuram is one of the most sought-after prospects on the planet right now, and his skills will be on show this summer as he was named in France’s European Championships squad, and Spurs fans will be hoping to catch a glimpse of the extremely talented forward as his name continues to be linked with the club, most notably by RMC Sport.

The son of France legend Lillian will reportedly be available for €40 million, having scored eight Bundesliga goals in just 20 starts, as well as scoring a further two in the Champions League – with both coming against Real Madrid to help his side to an impressive 2-2 draw.

His incredible strength, speed and agility make him a very difficult player for even the best defenders to stop, and Paratici believes the 23-year-old still has plenty of potential yet to be unlocked which has reportedly made him the priority signing for the summer in this position.

Nicolas Gonzalez – VFB Stuttgart

Argentina international Nicolas Gonzalez has been on the Spurs shortlist for some time now, having been linked since January with a move to the club due to his superb form with German Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

With a price tag of just £25 million, he is by far the cheapest option of the three, but at just 23-years-old and having already convinced critics in his homeland and in Germany too, he could be a smart move if nurtured properly.

This year has been an injury hit season for Gonzalez, who has drawn comparisons to Erik Lamela in recent months, but if there is one thing that he has over the outgoing Spurs star, it is his ability in the final third – as he impressed in his limited appearances last season scoring six goals in the league and setting up a further two.

Domenico Berardi – Sassuolo

Sassuolo talisman Domenico Berardi is one of Italy’s most important players, and he has already made his mark in this year’s European Championships, scoring a brilliant goal against Turkey in the opening match of the tournament.

His performances over the last few seasons have won him many admirers, including Paratici, who is keen to bring him to Spurs this Summer should the club be able to negotiate a better price than the £45 million quoted for him by the Italian club.

The 26-year-old was in scintillating form last season, scoring 17 goals in the Italian Serie A from the right-winger position, in just 30 games – with two of those appearances coming from the bench. On top of that, the forward set-up seven goals as well in what was the most clinical season of his career so far.
