According to Sky Sports, Andre Gomes will now not be signing for Tottenham after the Lilywhites ended their interest in him.
The Portuguese midfielder has been on loan at Everton in recent months and did an okay job for them.
Certainly, he is good on the ball but I’ve always wondered whether he is really good enough to play at that very highest level – he never really showed it at Barca.
And, despite being linked earlier on this season with a move to our club, it now looks as though we have ended our interest in him.
It does appear clear that we want to sign a new midfielder in the summer window but with plenty of time to still sort that out, I think we can find a better alternative.
Indeed, you’d be hard pressed to find a player that wouldn’t consider a move to our club right now.
