Most people expected Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen to be heading for pastures new before the European transfer windows shut at the end of this month.
???? @vincentjanssen has undergone minor foot surgery.
He will now go through a period of recovery and rehabilitation overseen by our medical staff.#COYS pic.twitter.com/mb3odkfQ92

His game time, lack of first-team inclusion that led to spending the season of 2017/18 out with Turkish side Fenerbahce and most recently he was stripped of the No 9 shirt and left off our squad lists for the coming campaign.
It all pointed to one thing, the 24-year-old was set for a move of some kind before silly season shuts up shop until January.
Tuesday afternoon, however, saw the club confirm that the player had undergone ‘minor foot surgery’ and whilst the Tweet confirmation didn’t include a timeframe, the expectation is ‘minor’ would still likely scupper a deal with just over a week remaining in the window.
With some fans taking the opportunity to have a pop, others were happy to wish him well and hoped for a quick recovery so his future could be sorted from all angles.
Fans been rather harsh considering……
It didn't work out for him at Tottenham, same can be said for Bobby Soldado, both players gave 100% though yet fans love Soldado but think the opposite about Janssen. #Strange. #COYS

Bad situation for him. According to his Instagram the doctors in Turkey did not think he would need surgery, so he just rehabbed and played through the pain. Once back at Spurs the doctors said he should have had surgery so he has basically wasted a year playing hurt

I’d still play him ahead of Sissoko ???? …. even if he was in a cast

So why exactly did you take the number 9 off him & not designate him a number? Especially when it’s not to give someone else the number 9! #OutOfOrder #Spursy
