‘Superb’, ‘Outstanding’ – some fans wax lyrical about Tottenham man after Huddersfield win

|

Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick as Tottenham put Huddersfield Town to the sword on Saturday, thrashing the already-relegated Terriers 4-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Moura has been inconsistent at times this season, but the 26-year-old was a standout performer against Town and was praised by supporters on social media.

Against Huddersfield, Moura made 63 touches, 47 passes with 87% accuracy, four tackles, one interception, two dribbles, four shots with 100% accuracy and drawing one foul. He’s made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 14 goals. The Brazilian international had scored only one goal in 2019 before Saturday, however.

Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t been entirely convinced by Moura. The wide-man has been substituted on or substituted off in 18 of his 27 Premier League outings this season. From his 40 appearances, he averages only 61 minutes of playing time per game and has been substituted off in 45% of the matches. The win on Saturday was important too as it sent Tottenham third in the table.

The Lilywhites have 67 points from 33 games, one more than fourth-placed Chelsea and three more than fifth-placed Manchester United. They’re in pole position to seal Champions League football for another season.
