Tottenham thrashed FK Crvena Zvezda 4-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night and Tanguy Ndombele was one of many players hailed by supporters for his performance. The 22-year-old started alongside Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli in midfield and delivered an all-action display at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.
Ndombele turned defence into attack with drives from deep, created opportunities for his teammates, frequently broke up the play in the middle of the park and seldom relinquished possession over the 90 minutes. The French international is the midfielder Tottenham have craved ever since Mousa Dembele left, and his Champions League performance highlighted why.
Spurs last night with Lo Celso and Ndombele looked better. Just shows how no new faces over two transfer windows affected the team. Players need competition within squads to be successful. Imagine what might have happened if Levy had backed Poch earlier! #THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/kWSRuKiRwQ

Great win at a tough place last night. In a great position in the group. Ndombele is an absolute baller. Lo Celso looks so good, he’ll easily kept Eriksen out with performances like that! #COYS #THFC

Nice to actually enjoy a game of football this season. Ndombele superb, Lo Celso promising, Foyth nice and steady. Almost as if this team just needs a bit of freshening up… #THFC

I’m excited to watch Ndombele the way I was excited to watch Berbatov. Some of the passes this guy sees are jaw dropping. #COYS #THFC

Against Crvena, Ndombele made 96 touches, won one aerial duel, had one shot, created two chances, completed 86.8% of his 76 passes, whipped in one cross, made four tackles, drew two fouls, made five successful dribbles and made one interception. He could have a bright future at Tottenham and may soon stake a claim as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
