The topic of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is never far from the back pages these days with everyone and their dog having an opinion on his freshness, fatigue level and whether or not he’s burnt out and needs an extended break.
Some discuss the World Cup, some discuss the last few years, others focus on the fact he broke his August duck, and Ian Wright was also speaking about how, with a new child in the house, that could be the issue a few days back.
Whatever the relative truth here, he was far from our worst player against Inter Milan last night, but he was poor by his own high standards once again and some fans focused in on him with frustration and anger in the air at the way we threw the game away.
That was so poor #THFC, what is happening to us? Terrible first half, and not much better in the second. Dier, aurier, lamela, Kane not good enough today. Poor

Erm…Not sure where to start. On a positive it was our best performance of the season. Kane needs to do the right thing and say he needs a break, Dier needs to give his golden ticket to someone else. #Aurier #Moura #Lamela gain some credit #THFC

Put basically, Kane isn’t even getting into positions to score!
Check out Daniel Sturridge’s goal just now & his movement IN THE BOX! Haven’t seen Kane do that at all so far this season! Not good enough!!
WE DONT LEAD FROM THE FRONT ANYMORE! #COYS #THFC pic.twitter.com/DiTisJStQE— Peter (@_petey_pan) September 18, 2018
Kane was completely anonymous bar that one miss today. Not sure what it is but the team is in a worrying shape #THFC

Kane ain’t up to at the mo let’s be honest, he’s dropping too deep, movement poor and in front of goal no confidence! He needs to sit in the box like Van Nistlerooy and start putting them away. #COYS #THFC

Kane got into decent positions but definitely needs a game or 2 off #THFC

Kane shouldn't be starting along with dier.
Would have rather had Llorente for that Inter game as he looked fitter in preseason than he did last season.
Gazza as well, granted Vorm made some fabulous saves in this game.#thfc— ItzMeDarren ⚔️ (@ItzMeDarren) September 18, 2018
Not exactly over the top criticism, and more an understanding and consensus that we need to take him out the firing line for a bit and he’s definitely not taking the flak some are on social media.
But with early season optimism, it seems like it’s now one thing after another and even Mauricio Pochettino seems to be losing his cool – we need to find a line and draw it.
Even the above selection of comments show how different people saw Kane’s own performance differently and plenty felt he was better on the night despite not registering a shot on target.
