With the October international break now in full flow, the expected transfer rumours have returned for Tottenham Hotspur, not least owing to our recent on pitch struggles, but it’s also a good chance to catch up on how some of our loanees are doing away from the club in the campaign of 2019/20, and just before the curtain came down on fixtures last weekend, it seems 21-year-old youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers took an opportunity to impress.
The US international centre-half headed to Stoke City this season as he looked to build on experience gained with Sheffield United, Ipswich Town and Swansea City in previous years, and although Stoke are struggling hugely under Nathan Jones at this moment in time, and sit in 24th place in the Championship table, they picked up their first win of the campaign in last Saturday’s clash with Swansea.
CCV has already made eight starting appearances for them, with a further showing from the substitutes bench and it seems his committed performance in their victory has won him plenty of praise.
Carter Vickers was throwing his body on the line all game. He was solid. We've been weird at home lately. Still, I'd be happy with a top 6 place. We're not good enough for top 2 imo.

CCV had a strong match as Stoke shocked promotion-chasing Swansea. CCV was not selected for the latest US U23s. It's been a tough loan so far but he's still just 21. https://t.co/xd2KaaEHPn

A few of the Swansea fan comments questioning why they didn’t return for him caught my attention, but whether – despite his age – he can force his way into manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans remain to be seen – especially with everything going on the last few weeks.
