Former Tottenham player Peter Crouch has interviewed Steven Gerrard for Amazon Prime Video Sport and the conversation has revealed some intriguing insight.
Gerrard famously spent the vast majority of his career at Anfield before moving to LA Galaxy in the twilight of his playing days, but there is a chance he could have moved to North London.
The pair discussed a youth match where they came up against each other for the first time in their careers, with Crouch complimenting Gerrard’s performance on that day.
In particular, he highlighted his battling nature, which became a trademark of the scouser’s style of play, and on that occasion it caught the eye of Lord Sugar.
The former Tottenham owner even pulled the youngster aside after the game to have a conversation, likely about the prospect of him joining the Lilywhites, but it was not meant to be.
Gerrard instead stayed at Liverpool, and revealed that the Reds changed his contract as a result of that meeting, in order to ensure he would be prolonging his stay at Anfield.

Crouch found amusement at the fact that even he didn’t get the opportunity to speak to his owner when he was a youth player, though he would have the last laugh as he went on to play for us as well as Liverpool, and competed in the Champions League for both clubs.
