  • I just read a report on the match that said only 38,000 fans were there. In the context of this seasons crowds that’s fair enough, but its still more than the total capacity of our old ground. I suppose it shows how far things have changed.

  • If that were to continue, when we move we won’t be talking about the ‘glass’ but whether the stadium is half full or half empty.

  • Something of a landmark day today in respect of the stadium construction. The final section of the top compression ring is going in as I type which basically completes the oval structure and might be considered as the “topping out” in construction terms. Still much to be done though and I personally can’t see it being completed by mid July which is when it will need to be done in order to get safety certificates etc. in order to be ready for the opening day of the new season. There will definitely need to be a major push over the next 2-3 months if we are to see it open on time.

  • Newport dwelling Spurs supporter here. We travelled to Wembley with the County’s supporters and saw the game like this. Vorm, not much to do until one save right at the death. Aurier ran around without really doing much. Danny Rose looked quite hesitant unlike the old Danny who charged around with bristling, controlled aggression. Toby looked as though he’s never been away, (get him signed on a new contract ASAP. Class like him doesn’t come along very often.) Foyth had a great game, one misplaced pass, but the rest was outstanding. A bit more beef and he’s the finished article. A Spurs stalwart for years to come. Sissoko ran and well…….ran. Is that why Poch keeps picking him? Wanyama was his usual midfield destroyer and young Winks was a classy presence in midfield, (glad to see you back lad.) Sonny never gave the county defence a minutes rest and Lamela is looking like the player we hoped we’d bought. Poor old Llorente, what a difference a goal would make to his confidence. Don’t think he’ll get many more chances though. M.O.M? Newport Countys travelling hoard of fans. They didn’t stop supporting their heroes all game, (and on the coaches all the noisy way home.) Glad the Exiles got their moment in the sun (and made some much needed cash on the way.)

  • Something else I forgot to mention. A BIG pat on the back to the Wembley staff both inside and outside the stadium. Helpful and informative. People like them don’t very often get a mention. Well done (and Ta from a Taff in London).

  • My bloody phone is sending before I mean it to, apologies regarding last 2 nonsense posts. 74% possession, 26 goal attempts, only 2 goals. This is becoming a regular set of stats, yes we get the result but our conversion of overwhelming superiority in games into score lines and GD must improve, we must be more ruthless.
