Tottenham Hotspur were looking to make it two from two as we faced West Ham United for a second time this month at the London Stadium – the difference this time was rather than points, it was a place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup that was up for grabs.
As expected manager Mauricio Pochettino took the opportunity to rotate the pack and some fans would’ve been very happy to see Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters get a runout and we even had goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga back between the sticks. They weren’t the only considered youngsters to get the call either.
Son Heung-Min stole the show with his brace on the day and his 150th appearance now sees him sit one goal shy of the 50 goal marker. Fernando Llorente got our third on the day to re-establish the two goal advantage after they clawed one back.
A classic, maybe not, but certainly a number of positives to take.
