Stats: Late Show From Spurs Returns The Win & We Deserved It Against PSV

|

Earlier this evening Tottenham Hotspur welcomed PSV Eindhoven to Wembley for our Champions League Group B clash.

One of the biggest questions ahead of the game was whether England man Dele Alli would make the tie, and he did return to the starting lineup having missed out on the Wolverhampton Wanderers victory at the weekend.

Mousa Dembele did ultimately miss out though with injury.

A proverbial ‘must win’ to keep slim Champions League hopes alive, it couldn’t have started much worse as the visitors took a quick second minute lead and it was one they held until the 78th minute when Harry Kane got on the scoresheet again to bring us level.

A late 89th minute own goal for Trent Sainsbury gave us the win and all three points and I imagine reaction will be mixed.

We’ve lost points in the Champions League so far owing to late errors, we gained this time around. My outlook is we’ve been unlucky previously but we only had ourselves to blame. 30 attempts at goal (nine on target) tell me we were worth the victory, as does 75% possession.

That’s a late win I can toast as justified.
