Spurs to push for key target tomorrow

|

Having chased Sporting CP’s Pedro Porro for time immemorial, Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly push for the signing of the Spanish right wing-back tomorrow in a meeting with the Lisbon giants tomorrow.

As per Sport Witness, this meeting will be the ultimatum – the ‘take it or leave it’ if you like – for both sides. Whatever Spurs do tomorrow will determine whether Porro emerges out of the other side of January 31st in Lilywhite, or if he remains in the boring old green and white of Sporting CP.

The report cites reliable Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade, who states that tomorrow’s meeting will be the final bit of dialogue between the two sides as they try to thrash out a deal for Porro, meaning that the summit will see the deal either ‘concluded’ or ‘collapsed’.

Andrade maintains that Sporting will still insist on Spurs meeting the £39 million release clause for Porro, but there is renewed confidence among both parties that Spurs’ next offer will satisfy the needs of the Lisbon outfit.

Interestingly, Porro was left on the bench tonight for his side’s league cup semi-final away to Arouca (via Sky Sports, entry at 19:32), and Spurs will hope that in the further talks between the two sides tomorrow, they will convince Sporting to do a deal for slightly less than the £39 million at which the Spaniard is valued.
