With Tottenham Hotspur already capturing young Leeds United talent Jack Clarke this transfer window, as last week came to a close, we were being linked with a secondary move for defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The 23-year-old had a very good season under Marcelo Bielsa last year as they narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League and whilst he seems incredibly well rated, this report on the rumour mill seems strange purely owing to that signed Tanguy Ndombele who from what I can tell largely performs the exact same role when asked to protect the defence.
The claim comes from The Mirror so there’s already a healthy dose of scepticism and short of stating that we are ‘now targeting Phillips’ there’s not a shred of reliable information there to back the claim up and they simply rehash existing rumours linking him with Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
So it’s a typical Mirror piece but I genuinely can’t see us paying £30million for him which is what Leeds are apparently asking.
There are also unconfirmed reports saying that Phillips has signed a this weekend as well.
