With a fantastic 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, Tottenham Hotspur went into tonight’s Group B Champions League clash with Olympiakos in good spirits.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino did make a few tweaks to the starting XI given the players who were left behind, but there was every reason for confidence that our Group campaign this season would be easier than last and that we’d open this challenge with all three points.
It was certainly a bright start in terms of goals for Spurs as Harry Kane gave us the lead from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, and Lucas Moura doubled our advantage on the half hour mark. The hosts got a goal back just before the half time break, and having dispatched a penalty of their nine minutes after the restart, it, unfortunately, looked like one of those European nights for the club again.
Two goals squandered, but still a point away from home for the glass half full amongst us, and unlike some others, at least it wasn’t a defeat.
