Spurs Slip Up As We Give The Doubters A Reason To Write Off Title Hopes – Match Stats

|

Tottenham Hotspur made the trip to Turf Moor earlier today for Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff against Burnley.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino’s side went into the game in great form with four straight wins keeping our top fight hopes alive for the season of 2018/19 and we were boosted by the return of England striker Harry Kane to the starting XI.

Sean Dyche’s Burnley side were three points away from the relegation zone but were also unbeaten in the last five, having taken victory in their last match.

The hosts took the lead in the second half of the game after a goalless opening 45 minutes, but rather predictably Harry Kane was the one to get us back on level terms in the 65th minute. Sadly inside of the final ten minutes, Burnley restored their advantage to make it 2-1 and that was where the game finished.

A blow to our title hopes and no doubt plenty will now write us off with a five point gap and Liverpool having a game in hand.

With Pochettino having some ‘animated’ words with the referee at the fulltime whistle following their opening goal on the day, I’m imagining he’s not happy.
