Spurs “Should Not Be Buying Championship Players” If We Want To Be Title Challengers

|

Earlier this morning I covered the speculation suggesting that should Tottenham Hotspur have a real interest in Hull City’s young talent Jarrod Bowen, we would have to cough up at least £20million to get his services.

To save overly repeating the bulk of the speculation doing the rounds this week I’ll simply link the article below.

Championship Talent Will Cost Spurs £20million According To Reports

Looking around social media to gauge the reaction to the suggestions that he’s potentially on manager Mauricio Pochettino’s radar surprised me a little, as although there are never any guarantees when it comes to transfers, on the little I’ve seen of him, I like what I’ve seen.

Predominantly a winger, I don’t think he’d have any problems taking the wide berth in how we set up at the top of the pitch, and with 26 goals across all competitions in 67 starts and 12 substitute appearances, his record is impressive and that’s before considering the assists he’s contributed since making his breakthrough.

That’s a taste of the reactions that surprised me. It’s not solely the Spurs model under Pochettino but it figures highly and plenty were quick to point out Harry Kane – homegrown and he’s not the only one. Dele Alli wasn’t plucked and improved from Real Madrid after all.

Being Hull, it’s also very easy to point to Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire.

Sometimes players just need a chance.
