Danny, it was certainly a solid result but hardly a solid performance. It is clear from the stats that the only difference between the team’s was finishing. At times our defending was woeful.

  • Geofspurs says:

It’s official …. we have another Double. Kane and Son are already club legends but now they are legends-times-two. Since its inception, they are the Double-Assist champions of the PL. Can’t be bad!

  • Geofspurs says:

Although our performances have not been great we have scored some really lovely goals lately.

  • Niall D says:

Hi Danny thanks again for the thread, I’ll refer to Allan in our last thread, after the win why the negativity.
I look at the stats, and, we almost trebled the attempts on target than those of Leeds, but there are still those who are negative after this win, today we bossed the game, pure and simple, yes we did give away a few chances but we were the better team.
Whilst I agree, we are not consistent enough to be in the drivers seat for top 4.
I did enjoy today’s result/” performance, I only wish it would build confidence, competence, and results.

  • Love totty says:

Nial, being the better team against Leeds is hardly cause for optimism. We gave them 19 attempts to score. Just as well they couldn’t hit a barn door. But yes there were things to admire in some of forward play and congratulations to Harry and Sonny for their record. Where would we be without them.

  • Love totty says:

For negativity, read honesty. My lack of optimism stems from the fact that we don’t have anybody in the squad better than those Conte is picking week after week. Bentacur looks decent but not outstanding and Kulashevsky has made a good start. But I repeat what I’ve said before, whilst Dier, Romero and Davies are OK stoppers, they can’t play out from the back. There seems to be a disconnect between them and whoever is in midfield. This makes us easy to play against. I hope I’m wrong and I watch every game urging us on as any supporter should, but it pains me to see how we have regressed.

Just a bit of optmisim, the stats speak for themselves, we bossed that game today, we could’ve produced more efforts on goal but for me at times we took the foot off the throttle.
That’s not to say we were in any way perfection, there was at times a lack of focus and a few silly fouls given away, indeed had Leeds had a better finisher, we may have been in diffs.
I could also say that if Kanes header had gone in against Burnley, we would’ve won that game, it’s all ifs m8.
I watched Football Focus where the pundits gushed about Arsenal’s win the other nite, they were god dammn lucky.
Now we beat Leeds and beat em well, we managed the game after 3 goals, yes we could’ve been better, but I’m happy with the result.
Are we world beaters, no, can we win the league, no, but can we just possibly edge top 4 or 5, well yes.
This is my hope, we do need changes, whole sale, I’m taking what I can get this season any win make me optimistic, re optmisim, we’re past the 40 points mark so no relegation this year. 😉

  • Allan says:

I can’t see much optimism being shown on here which is fully understandable given our recent run of results but lets praise a win whatever the stats say and move onto Middlesborough .
Realism will kick in and be confirmed on Tuesday I expect .

  • wentworth says:

Yesterday was a good result but it does not hide the fact that we only have Son and Kane who are top drawer footballers. The rest are workmanlike at best. However, they did a job.
I still believe that we have one of the poorest squads in recent times down to our dreadful transfers in and very ordinary academy players. WE have managed to rid a few but the summer transfer window needs to carry on with the pruning. It does look as though Bentancur and Kulusevski surprisingly are going to be an improvement on Lo Celso and N’Dombele. But we are still stuck with Emerson, Doherty, Sessegnon, Winks who are never going to be star performers.
Lets hope our scouts are scouring Europe for the decent players we desperately need. No faffing around Levy procrastinating over a few pounds.

  • Niall D says:

Indeed there are quite a few muted responses here, I enjoyed the result for what it was, a good result and performance, Leeds were very” Leedsy” yesterday 😉 as Isaid prior to the game they play one way, which can be an exciting watch, but costly if it goes, wrong.
For us depending on how you look at it, it’s two steps forward and one back wards, or the other way round.
I will still argue that other teams, around us are scraping results, Man U draw with Watford yesterday. Man C just about beat Everton.
It is a difficult league and any team can make a “mug” out of you.
I think that’s where my optimism to a degree comes from, as WW says, we do need new recruits in and we aren’t in our strongest position just now, so for me to be happy with our results is it optimism or am I being Pragmatic given our squad, I feel a bit of both.
But I’m not putting our team down after thrashing Leeds 4-0.

The Great! Liverpool team put 6 past the Crap! Leeds team at Home during the week, we score 4 against the same Crap! Leeds team Away and peops are still moaning n whinging only Spurs fan lol!

Simple fact, job done, next! COYS

  • Niall D says:

    100% PY
And we didn’t get 2 pens like Liverpool did.
Lest me ‘n’ you enjoyed it 😉
Trust you and yours are keeping well.

  • Arky says:

Niall D and PompeyYid, I have been on these boards since/about BMJ was the gaffer. Back then when you signed on here, you had to declare your home team. There was this poster who was super critical of Spurs as a Spurs fan on these boards win, lose or draw. To borrow from Niall D’s lexicon, always “acting the maggot”.”TurkishDelight”, if memory serves me well. Turned out, his boyhood team that he declared for was Liver-poo. Point I am making is, we don’t know who some of these people are, don’t pay attention to say, pay attention to what they do on these boards.

Happy Happy clapper for the four nil win yesterday here. 🙂

  • 123spurs says:

Liverpool can back up wins with more wins etc, what spurs will turn up next, can we get a run going now.

  • Niall D says:

    Good man Arky.
Havnt heard that saying in a while. 😉
Yep of course there could be and obviously are wind up merchants on this site, I occasionally throw in the odd grenade myself, just to get a wee wind up going, usually about ‘Arry “.
But as you say a good win is a good win and (for me) is to be enjoyed.
We can improve, there will be the odd bump in the road, we cannot win the league this year, the best (for me”) is to hope for one of the interesting places.
In short if we win I’ll cheer, if we lose I’ll whinge a bit, I thought that’s what all supporters do.
Fek me if we start gurnin’ when we win 4 – 0 what has the world come to. 🤔😉🙄

  • BelgianSpur says:

The roller coaster continues. I still think we can’t challenge for top 4 if we can’t find consistency, but tomorrow’s game provides a good opportunity.

  • PompeyYid says:

Morning Niall, thanks for asking, we are fine, oh except Mrs PY has Covid, failed tests for last 5 days, but she is an hard bastard and fighting, looking a lot better today as I informed her.

Hope you and your kin are hanging in there?

Glad you appreciated my last post….”Only Spurs fans” lol! COYS
