Fresh from Monday’s hard-fought victory over Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur were back in European action this evening as we travelled to Royal Antwerp for our next Europa League Group J clash.
As expected, manager Jose Mourinho made some changes, but not nearly as many as fans were probably expecting.
It was quite a mixed and balanced start really, although Spurs did edge it in reality in the first half. Disappointingly though we were 1-0 behind on the 30 minute mark as the hosts seized advantage.
It was a strong bench though, so the only question was how soon would Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min be introduced as we went for victory in the second period.
The answer was pretty quickly, with four changes coming immediately after the break, with Kane joining just ahead of the hour mark.
Sadly it was to no avail though as despite reasonable chances coming, they actually ended the game with one more shot on target than we managed.
Not the end of the world, but disappointing nonetheless. Group J is wide open though so we can make up for this slip up.
Unused Spurs Substitutes:
Doherty, Alderweireld, Hart, Sissoko, Clarke, White, Cirkin.
