After another disappointing draw with Everton at the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur also had to deal with the Andre Gomes fallout – although thankfully the midfielder is now fine and well following surgery – either way though, it wasn’t the perfect preparation for tonight’s Champions League away clash with Red Star Belgrade.
Whether it had an effect on the first half is open to debate, the game wasn’t quite end to end, although Spurs did dominate possession. But with two shots on target apiece, there wasn’t much to shout about, although summer arrival Giovani Lo Celso did his best when he opened the scoring ten minutes before the break.
Second half was much the same, but with our next two shots on target, Son Heung-Min put a bad week behind him to register a brace and give us a 3-0 advantage.
With five minutes remaining in the tie, substitute Christian Eriksen made it 4-0, so we did end quite comfortably really.
