Spurs reportedly considering move for Canadian forward

|

Reports from Givemesport, have stated that Spurs are among a list of Premier League clubs interested in Lille forward, Jonathan David.

Spurs alongside Everton and North London rivals Arsenal are all said to be keen on the forward who has bagged 13 goal contributions in 14 games, so far this season.

David has lit up Ligue 1 since arriving in northern France – with the 22-year-old providing 49 goal contributions in 110 games for the French outfit.

The forward arrived from Belgian side Genk for around €30 million back in 2020, so any move for the forward in January will surely command a fee north of €40 million.

We thought we would take a dive into the stats to see whether a move for the forward would be worthwhile. Stats provided by WhoScored.com

In terms of putting the ball in the back of the net, the Canadian’s 0.6 goals per 90 minutes ranks him amongst other forwards like Ivan Toney (0.6) and Lautaro Martinez (0.4).

Should Spurs sign Jonathan David?

YES

NO

David has also been impressive when it comes to shots, currently taking 3.4 shots a game this season which ranks him just behind Spurs hitman Harry Kane (3.7).

As well as plating as a number 9, David can operate behind the striker – showing his versatility in the final third.

David’s versatility could bring good cover for a Spurs frontline that has been ravaged by injury this season, however, I don’t think the Lille man would want to play second-fiddle to the likes of Kane and Son.
