We are one of three teams interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to Calciomercato.com.

Last summer, the club reportedly made a loan offer for the Portuguese international, but the player remained at the Camp Nou. Lazio and Wolverhampton Wanderers are now also in the hunt for the 24-year-old.

Gomes was not a regular for Barca last season, and there has been constant speculation that he will depart the La Liga club.

On his Instagram page, he posted a picture of himself on holiday in Rome, prompting further talk of a move to Serie A.

The midfielder made 31 appearances last season┬ábut started just 12 matches under manager Ernesto Valverde. His lack of game time meant he missed out on a place in Portugal’s World Cup squad.

His international snub, combined with Barcelona’s purchase of Arthur from Gremio, are just two further reasons why the player may consider leaving Spain this summer in search of first-team football.

Although he certainly hasn’t been at his best since his move to Barca, Mauricio Pochettino reportedly remains a fan, and he could be an option to help take some of the burden off Christian Eriksen in the middle of the park.

  • Do we not have enough cover for CE already – if needed we can re-shuffle the pack and use Alli in his place in AMC or Lamela and if we’re talking RWF we now have Lucas Moura aswell! Do not necessarily see why we supposedly need cover for Ericksen. Think we need cover for Son and Kane more than we do for CE.

  • How long does it take Levy to strike a deal? we’ve lost De Ligt, Malcom, Pulisic, Martial just because Levy won’t pay the price being asked, he won’t even compromise.

  • It’s nearly July and as usual no Spurs signings or even significant sales. Seems we are even having trouble offloading the deadwood . Even the Dembele deal seems to be taking forever. We seem to be following the
familiar path, losing out on the talented players who may have helped and slowly lowering our sights in the direction of Grealish and other of similar quality. We reportedly had Barrios then we did not. No point waiting for World Cup discoveries because they appear to be thin on the ground. We either are moving forward or staying put. It would seem that the latter is most likely the truth. So far the supposed “war chest” for decent signings
has not materialized. Dangling the carrot to us old faithfuls is beginning to be tiring if not annoying, either sign some decent players or face a frustrating first season with half empty stands in our new abode. We want to compete not watch another Man City or Utd runaway.

  • Welcome to the world of Levy Graham Wood. In spite of statements by MP about “we want to get our transfer business early” we are as usual watching others do deals whilst we tread water “showing interest” in players without doing anything, just waiting to miss out. We are preparing for the BOGOF sale on the last day as usual, no wonder we end up with the Sissokos and Jannsons of this world.
