Spurs Reportedly Add Portuguese Star To Transfer Shortlist

|

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes is on Tottenham`s list of potential transfer targets for the summer, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese publication is probably the least reliable out of the main sport newspapers in the country, so take this with a pinch of salt, but we are said to be among a number of top European clubs tracking the 23 year old`s progress.

He has been in excellent form this season with 13 goals and 16 assists in 45 games. However, he was far less prolific when he played for Serie A clubs Sampdoria and Udinese in his previous two seasons. The Primeira Liga isn`t the strongest, but he has been playing a lot further forward this campaign so that may explain his greater proficiency in front of goal.

In Europe, where he has played higher quality opposition, he has been less productive with one goal and three assists in eight Champions League games. He did make a bigger impact in the Europa League though where he scored three and created three more goals in four matches.

The Portuguese international currently has a ?100m buyout clause but it is believed that Sporting will sell for a lot less than that figure. The number of central midfielders we have been linked to in the last couple of weeks has now reached four, with Amadou Haidara, Amadou Diawara and James Maddison all reportedly on the club`s radar.
