Spurs receive boost in pursuit for Stuttgart and Japan attacker

|

As the official announcement for Paulo Fonseca as the new Spurs Head Coach continues to seemingly edge closer and closer, more and more names also continue to be linked with summer transfers to the club.

With new Sporting Director Fabio Paratici having been tasked with overhauling the squad, his shortlist continues to grow, and one of the latest players to reportedly become a target is Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Daichi Kamada, who could be available for just Β£25.8 million.

At 24-years-old, Kamada was believed to be seeking a transfer from the German Bundesliga club in order to further his development and reach his potential, and he more or less confirmed those reports in the last 24 hours.

The Japan international told Bild: β€œIt is possible that I will now change clubs and earn more at a club with a higher reputation.”

Last season, Kamada proved to be one of the top creators in the league as he recorded 12 assists from the central attacking midfield position, as well as scoring five times in 28 appearances.

He is a direct runner who has a bag of tricks in his locker, but more importantly, possesses the vision for a defence-splitting pass.

Spurs fans may remember the playmaker from the end of November 2019 when he scored two goals at the Emirates Stadium to shock North London rivals Arsenal.

Since then, Kamada has gone from strength to strength and has become a fan favourite with Frankfurt, where he has developed an almost telepathic relationship with in-demand Portuguese striker Andre Silva who scored an incredible 28 goals in 32 games this season.

While Silva is Manchester City’s alternative target to Harry Kane, the Japanese star will be hoping that he will be supplying the England captain next season – but if the Premier League Champions do sign Spurs’ talisman, it could be possible that Spurs move for both Frankfurt players and ensure there is already an established connection between the playmaker and the striker next season.

However, Spurs’ priority remains to keep Kane and then bring in a central defender and a right back, so if Kamada does join the club – it will most definitely be a bonus.
