A very good win.. Spurs players calm under pressure and lloris exceptional form in goal. Sonny clinical and HK10 again assists were brilliant headers flick on.

Villa were lucky not to have a player sent off in first half, but we have definitely improved now… would have lost this game earlier in the season, well done spurs players and conte.

    Danny thanks for the thread
Great result, now in the driving seat for 4th.
    Well played all the team.
    Next?

  • TK says:

Who could have beleived a few weeks ago that we would have a solid shot–probably the favorites right now–to a top four spot. From not a prayer with the holy ghost to a comfortable forth place today. Wow! Got to hand to to what Conte is accomplishing.

  • TK says:

who could have believed a few weeks ago that we’d be sitting today with a favored chance to make it to the top four this season? Wow. Just amazing. A top four finish had best convince DL to spend some money to support the Conte project.

  • TK says:

The site can be odd at times. My earlier post seemed to have disappeared so I wrote something similar and now the old post has re-appeared. Funny ‘ol site this is at times. Anway, what an astonishing turn around it’s been. Who’d a thunk it?

  • Niall D says:

Must laugh at the old BBC
    Yet in reality unsurprised.
Funnily they showed a nothing game between Manure and Everton, sh£t game first why because it gives em longer to talk about Man U. What 6th Vs 16th? Why would that be the first game shown?
Yet Chelseky who are 3rd and scored 6 and us who scored 4 are shown much further down the rankings.
The pundits OMG for a minute I thought Villa had won the game.
We fekin won the thing 4 fekin 0 yet nearly all the Beeb talk was, about Villa, this, was a team beaten 4 – 0 at home no pens, no free kicks no OGs simple four good goals, away from home in a well managed game from Spurs.
Yes they put up a good first half but that was it. Feeek.
Either way points make prizes and Villa and, ManUre got none today
Funny how poor Man U are without the Penalties. 🤔

    • TQ2Spurs says:

You are missing the point Niall, they are trying to dramatise the race for 4th place thinking it makes for good TV, which I suppose it does if you don’t already know the scores!

  • Geofspurs says:

As TK said …. there were four or five times during the season when a top four finish looked impossible and I completely gave up on the idea. But …. as they say …. it’s not over until the skinny man sings! Gotta love football!

  • jod says:

The point about this season is no one has been consistent. Even City and Liverpool have dropped a few points they shouldn’t have, the rest of us have dropped a lot more. But Conte has kept working with the players and now we are getting the reward. Arsenal are falling away rapidly but really they have nothing like our quality. United do but their season has been a disaster. West Ham, who I think are under rated, could end as our closest challengers even though they also have a Europa Cup to try and win.

I’m just praying Conte doesn’t move on in the summer, as long as he’s still here then it could get very interesting next season.

  • Allan says:

I only saw the first half and was amazed that we were still ahead at half time but delighted during the secong half when my phone kept pinging and saw that we were 4 up !
All their attacks came down our right hand side and the sooner Conte is able to move Dempsey over ( am I really including him as a regular team player after all the criticism i have put his way !! ) then replace Emerson and I feel that we will be even stronger .
It is interesting to see the anti Conte appointment opinion from some posters now turning and begging him to stay !!
What an amazing coach and with his importance on fitness and tactical awareness ( as witnessed by our 2nd half response ) then maintain this form and 4th is ours .
    Quite remarkable .

  • 123spurs says:

Is kane 1 yellow away from a 1 game ban?
Why wasn’t he taken off as been 4 up should of been rested.
New signings made a huge difference, no winks no moura and you can see the difference.

  • Geofspurs says:

123 …. They have plenty of recovery time before the next game. He could have put a younger player on but, remembering how the first half went, he probably didn’t want to risk it. It’s his call in any case.

    • wentworth says:

From the ridiculous to the sublime. 4th goal reminded of the Poch era when we were slick and strong. Son is such a star.
Two new signings are not flashy but have brought a new dimension. Bentancur is so steady and Kulusevski is always available. Totally transformed our game from Winks, Moura and Bergweijn. They have given the wing backs chance to stay high up the pitch although Emerson Royal had an awful first half.
Hopefully we will be able to attract another Eriksen ( even) and another Bale (even). The summer is coming and we will finish 4th if we carry on like this. No more Spursy…audere est facere.

  • jod says:

One interesting thing is going to be summers transfer activity. Before it even starts we will be paying out £67m (£42m to complete the Romero deal, £25m for Kulusevski). What that leaves in the kitty I don’t know although if we do get that fourth spot it obviously helps. But avoiding any more N’Dombele’s and strengthening where we need to strengthen while staying within budget will not be easy. We’ll see just how good Paratici is I suppose.

  • block 108 spurs says:

I think It will be transfers out and funds used for transfers in and topped up by Levy / Joe / etc. At least we have a decent DoF and manager working together. just need Levy to be sensible and not as usual behaviour in TW.

  • PompeyYid says:

It was a “dirty pants” first half, lol! we have a new Spurs, Conte is knocking the old Spursey out of us, would we have won this game? a few months ago, certainly no!

The old man lol! in goal along with his two assistants Romero n Dier, kept us in it, for us to land the knockout blows in the 2nd half.

Villa or rather Villans kicked us and anything that moved! how did they finish the 1st half with 11 men? I have no bloody idea, also how come we finished with more Yella’s than them? the ref was total shite! why do they hate us so much?

As for the prick Hinchcliffe what a bloody knob!

Mind we did have the last laugh over the crap ref and commentator. COYS

  • jod says:

block 108 spurs – Not sure what you think we are going to sell.

  • Niall D says:

    Jod,
Not answering for B108, I’m sure he’s quite capable of doing that for himself.
However if you check the last post where I listed around 9 players we could sell without actually really affecting our squad too much.

  • block 108 spurs says:

Jod.. Obvious sales are Winks, \ lo Celso / Tanguy dombele (goalkeeper) Gollini. Then Bergwijin / Royal and possibly Hojberg./ Sanchez / Rodon.(if he wants to go.)

What is your suggestion for players to replace these ?

  • Niall D says:

    Hi B108
As I mentioned before, we also have CCV, Clarke, Gil, Parrott.
The young French lad Mata Sarr.
Tho’ I do think Gollini is on loan and isn’t ours, to sell 😉
But we do have a few “cast off” to make us, a few, quid.
Results today pretty much went our way as well, hopefully we can now push on and consolidate 4th place.

  • Love totty says:

Did somebody say that we are bringing Dempsey back lol? Shame that Doherty seems to be out for the remainder of the season as I don’t rate Royal and Matt was just finding his form

  • jod says:

block 108 – Just because you want to sell doesn’t mean anyone has to buy, the player can also just see out his contract. So taking N’Dombele we are paying him £200k a week. No one is going to pay him anything like that, nor would they pay more than a small fraction of the £45m we paid for him. From the players perspective he could pick up £10m a year for the rest of his 5 year contract without playing any football at all and it doesn’t seem like that would bother him much. Who is going to pay serious money for Winks ? Same goes for Gollini. If you are serious about selling Hojbjerg you need your head examining, he’s important to Conte’s style of play, as Conte has said himself. If we do make the Champions League next season we will need to rotate so we will need squad depth. So getting rid of players like Sanchez and Bergwijn strikes me as suicidal. Emerson is a slightly different situation as he’s more of a full back than a wing back but he can only go if a replacement comes in, who will probably cost more than Emerson will fetch. Rodon probably needs to leave for the sake of his own career but again, who is going to pay serious money for him ? Lo Celsco is about the only player in your list who is genuinely both surplus to requirements and might fetch a decent fee. For the rest it seems to be wishful thinking that we can somehow cover the cost of the players we want to bring in with the peanuts we get from those players who really are surplus to requirements.
