Spurs Playmaker ‘Wants To Know’ If La Liga Giants Are Keen On Signing Him

Christian Eriksen wants clarification from Barcelona over whether they want to sign him as a replacement for Andres Iniesta, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan publication reports our no.23 is frustrated by Barca’s constant enquiries to his agent, and “wants to know” for sure if there is any genuine interest from the La Liga champions.

Phillipe Coutinho is said to be lined up to play in a deeper lying role next season to take up Iniesta’s place in the team, and the signing of Arthur Melo from Gremio would also suggest the World Cup winner’s space in the squad has already been filled up.

However, Mundo Deportivo account a list of encounters that involve intermediaries from Barca telling agents that they are interested in signing Eriksen.

The newspaper says an official offer was made last summer as they struggled to recruit Coutinho. Still, contact has been ongoing since then and his performances in the Champions League, especially against Juventus, have retained the Catalan side’s interest.
