Christian Eriksen wants clarification from Barcelona over whether they want to sign him as a replacement for Andres Iniesta, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan publication reports our no.23 is frustrated by Barca’s constant enquiries to his agent, and “wants to know” for sure if there is any genuine interest from the La Liga champions.

Phillipe Coutinho is said to be lined up to play in a┬ádeeper lying role next season to take up Iniesta’s place in the team, and the signing of Arthur Melo from Gremio would also suggest the World Cup winner’s space in the squad has already been filled up.

However, Mundo Deportivo account a list of encounters that involve intermediaries from Barca telling agents that they are interested in signing Eriksen.

The newspaper says an official offer was made last summer as they struggled to recruit Coutinho. Still, contact has been ongoing since then and his performances in the Champions League, especially against Juventus, have retained the Catalan side’s interest.

  • I doubt eriksen told any newspaper he wants to know if barca are interested in him. He is not that stupid. Paper talk stirring things up. If barca are wanting him then he will already know, potential signings happen weeks before the end of the season. Eriksen is happy with us and MP but of course he would probably want to go to barca if they come calling not many players wouldnt, so its a matter of seeing if they are interested but no way as he spoken to the papers telling them he wants to know if barca are interested. Stupid story
