Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their pre-season campaign in the International Champions Cup with a positive victory over Juventus out in Singapore on Sunday.

As attentions turn to Manchester United, before we pivot to the Audi Cup and the tie with Real Madrid as we travel to Germany, the Juventus clash should certainly whet the appetite ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign and the game held plenty of positives.

Erik Lamela (30), Lucas Moura (65) and Harry Kane (90+3) all got on the scoresheet to give us the 3-2 win but Kane’s effort as he lobbed Wojciech Szczesny deep in stoppage time will certainly take the headlines from the game.

Plenty of youngsters also got decent run-outs as fans continue to expect big things from Troy Parrott and Jack Roles (but they weren’t the only potential stars of the future on show) and it wasa debut for record signing Tanguy Ndombele.

Paulo Gazzaniga got an early chance to impress again as well with Hugo Lloris falling foul of a bout of tonsillitis, so all in a good weekend.

Juventus (4-3-3): Buffon (Szczesny 46), Cancelo, Rugani (Demiral 46), Bonucci (c) (De Ligt 63), De Sciglio, Can (Rabiot 46), Pjanic (Muratore 76), Matuidi (Kastanos 76), Bernardeschi, Mandzukic (Higuain 46), Ronaldo (Pereira 63). Substitutes (not used): Pinsoglio, Loria, Di Pardo, Coccolo, Beruatto, Toure, Frederiksen, Mavididi.

Spurs (4-3-1-2): Gazzaniga, Walker-Peters (Marsh 71), Alderweireld (c) (Foyth 46), Tanganga (Vertonghen 46), Georgiou (White 71), Skipp (Bowden 90+2), Winks (Roles 63), Dele (Sissoko 46), Lamela (Ndombele 63), Son (Lucas 46), Parrott (Kane 46). Substitutes (not used): De Bie, Whiteman, Lyons-Foster, Eriksen.

Onto the next one…

  • Tq hope so and it should….. blessings from the sky.
Pompey …. indeed mate…but from goons you expect goony…
Only concern for me is fb position, sun live blig reporting rose at Watford ground….. really?
I don’t have sky sports,ESPN and they just give like an hour or so of the window

  • 62, Rose is reported as being at Watford’s training ground but also that they have only offered £14m when we are looking for 28 so a big gap to fill.

  • It would be an odd move as I understood he was keen to move back up north nearer his family.

    • Tq…. thanks…. really hope he stays another year with the fb situation as it stands.
Sess would have time to bed in

  • Sess in – get in there – wanted him for ages. Hopefully Lo Celso aswell and Danny stays………!

    • Sorry el jefe, I needed to go to the bathroom 🙂

After I’ve been the shop for my deadline day beverages I might be able to announce Sessegnon.

    • El jefe the first article I read on the loan thing last night said it’s a compulsory to buy end of season and loan plan was to get the deal done that way so betis wouldn’t be paying much in sell on clause…not sure yet

  • Finally announced – good deal – loan to buy – see how he gets on and if takes to the Prem if not don’t have to go through next summer.

  • Anyone seen Frank? He’s probably out celebrating with his new best mate, Levy!

The loan deal makes sense. If it works out we have an option to buy and if it doesn’t it’s still buy … bye, bye.

    • Geof frank won’t be celebrating with levy, those aren’t the players he wanted…lol.????

  • His keyboard is probably on fire as he gives Levy grief for leaving the Dybala transfer too late to get over the line. :- )

  • Just had to power up the laptop – battery ran out. Danny Rose staying is fine by me – just needs to improve his delivery IMHO – apart from that excellent player and always fully committed. 62 I read the same about obligation to buy to save Betis some dough in the 20% surcharge to PSG but it most probably is an option at the end of the day – remains to be seen – hopefully makes no difference either way as he excels and we make it permanent next summer. Sessegnon I’ve wanted for a year or more so glad that’s finally over the line – still paying fair whack though – £30m in total plus Onomah, atleast it’s not the £50m quoted last summer lol. Concerned about RB – let’s see what happens here but apart from that looking forward to this season – bit disappointed about Dybala but probably never going to happen given wage demands and image rights issues.

  • Well I made it to 1:15am. Off to sleep and sweet dreams of glory …. or nightmares about how we’re going to avoid relegation with all these new faces in the squad who don’t know how to play the Spurs way! : – )

  • Eriksen surely to go before end of foreign windows, no back-up for Kane but with Sessegnon coming in (assuming plays LWF) and Lamela back fit not to mention Dele and Lo Celso means Sonny and Moura can cover there if necessary. Sessegnon has already done a Bale at Fulham by moving from LB to LW so expect him to stay as such atleast for the time being – very interested to see how he progresses – top prospect.

  • Also read it’s a sweet deal for Gio as we can off-put his purchase price to next summer and that’s good for FFPR just in case especially as we have not sold Eriksen yet and don’t know exactly what we’ll get for him (stadium costs also impacting here especially as still in early days). Big expectations of Gio – replacing Chris no easy task. Still hoping Rose does not go abroad – we need him for the time being depending on what happens with Sess and the position he ultimately takes up. RB – is Foyth the answer? Appears to be in a large way although I see we kept KWP and also have Aurier so will be interesting to see how we line-up. No news on N’Koudou but assume he’ll be sold before foreign windows shut also.

  • Big pressure on Rashford at Utd now without Lukaku – I think they’re weaker without him – quality striker. Should have bought Fernandes or Dybala aswell. Still a forward line of Rashford/Martial/Sanchez is pretty tasty. Pogba stays/goes – let’s wait and see all indication’s are will stay as no replacement signed – if goes – then they’re seriously weakened. Strong defence with Maguire and Bissaka though and Shaw is getting back to his best not to mention De Gea – they should be in top 4 this season whatever happens assuming Ole can get them playing for each other. Chelski seriously weakened without Hazard and even Luiz and massive expectations of Giroud and Abraham – seriously doubt they’ll get top 4. Arse are going to be breathing down our necks again – lot’s of quality signings added to Aubemeyang and Lacazette and even Ozil – good chance to push us especially with Luiz and Tierney signed. All our signings look to be quality added to an already good squad, so hopefully we’re looking to atleast 3rd and letting Utd and Arse fight it out for 4th.

  • Lloris

    Foyth Toby Verts Rose
    (Aurier/ (Davy) (Dier) (Davies)

    N’Dombele Sissoko
    (Winks/ (Wanyama)

    Moura Lo Celso Son
    (Lamela) (Dele) (Sessegnon)

There’s still a chance that we could sign a free agent like Llorente back.

Eriksen and N’Koudou to go most probably.

  • Oh well ,excitement and anticipation over for a year (no, we wont do anything in January). Great shame about Dybala…we should have got him before Juve changed their minds. They could have had Llorente in P/exchange. Sessegnon at last…only taken 12 months. Think he has a great future. Lo Celso looks ok..should give us back up. As usual no striker so let’s hope Harry’s ankles keep ok. Worried about Eriksen’s motivation after those two pathetic pens. One is excusable; two suggests crap attitude. We will be weak at right full back. Aurier is looking up how to take a throw in after the age of eleven. I like Foyth but like Aurier he is a liability. Maybe KWP will improve his defensive skills. Dele needs to step up and become the attacking force he was. The bench should look stronger without the lumbering Llorente wasting seating space. We need a thumping win against Villa to start our season off. No excuses.

  • I’m worried about RB but would still have been if Trippier was kept – he was not the answer – way too many mistakes last season – arguably our worst player. It was a half decent sale – £20m for someone who cost us £3.5m 4 years ago ain’t bad going. No way should we have sold Rose for £14m – more like £25m minimum and also glad we’ve kept him anyway – hopefully won’t go abroad either. Also depends on where Sess is going to play – if at LB then plenty of time for him to bed in properly with Rose and Davies covering. I still harness hope though that he can develop like Bale at LW and become deadly like he was 2 years ago for Fulham. I watched the Copa America and Lo Celso can operate wide aswell as centrally so we could have Alli finally back behind Kane and scoring freely like he did in his first proper season with us.

  • On Dybala – Kane is our talisman and superstar and he’s on £200K – Dybala apparently wanted £350K so never going to happen – have to be realistic – we would have had to re-new everyone’s contracts to keep them happy. Also would have cost around £80m or so with image rights included so a big risk if not taking to the Prem – the Lo Celso loan deal puts everything into perspective. He could become a superstar like Eriksen, Sonny, etc and is apparently on £150K – tripling his wages – all from what I’ve read – much more reasonable and realistic. I got caught up in the Dybala links and wanted him to come but putting a realistic thought process to the matter means was a non-starter from the off.

  • Well here we are.. after an interesting day of PL transfers. IMO Levy should have done all this a week ago, then we would have Fernandes as well, ericsen to A Madrid. So new players can get a bit settled into new club and training methods. At lease Lo Celso knows Moura and Aurier from PSG, Lamela and Foyth from argentina team, and Poch. As someone mentioned Sess. will be a Bale typr of player, with Rose behind him. Dele really has to step up his game now, no more being jack the lad and chasing girls, etc. stay with ruby may.

  • EJ………..he reportedly wanted £350k from Manu, doesn’t mean he would have demanded the same from us, I read that Juve were prepared to reduce the asking price so we could use the difference to pay a portion of his wages so he would have been effectively on a par with Kane. He was apparently annoyed that Juve pulled the deal so maybe we can try agan in January if he doesn’t move beforehand and Juve get a replacement.

    • TQ2S….your post regards Dybala, I got the same impression, never mind there is always January. COYS
