Spurs Midfielder Says The Right Things, But It’s Not What Most Fans Would Want To Hear At The Moment

|

With the dust still settling on yet another poor performance from Tottenham Hotspur in the year of 2019, as in many ways we were probably lucky to take a point from newly promoted Sheffield United at the weekend, Spurs fans are naturally debating the multitude of potential explanations that could account for manager Mauricio Pochettino seeming to lose his spark and our resultant fall from grace.

Going into the November international break, Spurs languish in 14th place in the Premier League table and we are eleven points from fourth place – having won only three domestic games so far. I’m not quite sure how midfielder Moussa Sissoko would’ve had a right answer to this question when speaking to Sky Sports following that result, but I can certainly imagine plenty of fans may react with a mix of laughter and shock, as unlike plenty of fans it seems, the 30-year-old hasn’t abandoned top four hopes just yet.

“Of course we are far, far behind the top four, but the season is long and we can still win a lot of games. It will not be easy but we know we have the qualities to do it. When we come back we will try to catch the teams in front of us and see where we are at the end of the season.”

Can Spurs Still Make The Top Four?

Definitely

Abandon All Hope

It's The Bottom Four We Should Be Concerned About

There’s nothing wrong with his words, and fans would be in uproar if there was any suggestion that he didn’t believe we were capable of far better performances and result, but in the current mood it’s probably only going to attract criticism as fans want to see that improvement, not just hear it spoken about.
