Ever since Danny Rose gave his infamous interview a few years back, in many ways the Tottenham Hotspur left-back can’t do right for wrong anymore.
With the fanbase split on him when it comes to his performances on the pitch, whilst I can understand the point he was trying to drive home in a recent interview, he has unfortunately opened himself up for criticism as his words haven’t gone down well with many fans – least not on social media.
With manager Mauricio Pochettino saying in the aftermath of the Barcelona result that he was ‘always open to’ improving the squad and that we’d have to see ‘what happens in January’, Rose went in the opposite direction and allowed himself to become a headline again.
“The manager did not make any signings in the summer and he is probably not going to make any in January. It speaks volumes of how good he is. It’s no coincidence that every day you read Real Madrid want him or United want him. It’s exactly what he deserves. He has transformed how others outside the club think of us and transformed how we think of ourselves and how we approach big games. We hope he stays for a really long time.”
I’d say the clear thrust of what he was trying to say was to simply talk up Poch as a manager and what he’s achieved with the squad, but I’ve bolded the bit most of the media have picked up on.
In this case it seems maybe the press didn’t need to try and create a story as plenty of fans weren’t happy at all.
bless Danny Rose. he says it like it is.

If Rose did say that, he must know that isn't going to go down well with Poch. So I can only presume he's angling for a move

Yeah, because Danny will be all over the monthly accounts and cash flow forecasts ????
Should stick to playing full back, which he is doing a fine job at!!— SeanAFCTHFC (@kintoredon) December 12, 2018
So no signings for an ENTIRE season……Better finish in the top 4 again come May if that is the case

I’m surprised people are surprised at this. When do spurs do January signings and when is someone available who is ‘ready to go’? and priced in #THFC range. Louis Saha put an end to the Spurs January signing.
