Tottenham Hotspur weren’t in action this weekend, but Swansea City and Cameron Carter-Vickers were and they showed that Manchester City can be got at on Saturday.
Having established a 2-0 lead in their FA Cup quarter-final tie at the Liberty Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s side did respond better in the second half, however the talking points from the match were stolen by two massive calls that went in the visitors’ favour that few believe would’ve passed the Video Assistant Referee system.
VAR wasn’t in action simply because it only applies to Premier League stadiums – so despite Swansea only suffering the drop last year there was no obligation to use it.
In the second half Carter-Victors tackled Raheem Sterling but he got the touch on the ball first and contact was minimal on Sterling. It wasn’t a penalty but not necessarily simulation either, however, the referee awarded it. Late on in the match, the assistant referee also failed to notice that Sergio Aguero was clearly offside as he headed in their winner.
Fans were not impressed.
it was terrible, Carter-Vickers literally doesn’t touch him at all. Swans would’ve won it 2-1 if var was actually there

He was quality there and I thought Carter-Vickers was excellent, especially as he was playing at left back for so long.
Tactics worked well, I’ve felt GP has tweaked a bit too much in the league but the switches worked well today, despite the end result.

He didn’t dive. Carter-Vickers won the ball clean and Sterling dropped. Just trash refereeing

Swansea got robbed. Carter-Vickers got a touch on that “penalty” call. And Agüero was offside by a yard or two on that winner. Absolute shabolic refereeing.
