We are said to be one of five teams keeping a close eye on Lyon holding midfielder Lucas Tousart.

Calciomercato.com believe that the club, along with Inter, Juventus, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have all been scouting the 20 year old.

The Nerazzuri are believed to be the firm favourites though with the Serie A side`s sporting director Piero Ausilio sending scouts to watch the midfielder in action tonight for France Under 21`s match against Montenegro.

The Italians do reportedly have a major problem with the asking price that Lyon is demanding for the player. The club president Jean-Michel Aulas is said to be holding out for ?25million (£22m) and Inter fear this could prove a major stumbling block, allowing others to steal a march on them.

Tousart arrived from Valenciennes in 2015, and he has been a regular for the Ligue One club over the past two seasons. A genuine defensively minded midfielder, he has scored just two goals and provided two assists during his 76 appearances for his current team, picking up 11 yellow cards in the process.

Whether there is any genuine interest from us, we`ll have to see, but following links with Napoli`s Amadou Diawara, and Red Bull Salzburg`s Amadou Haidara in recent weeks, a pattern is emerging with central midfielders all being reportedly scouted.
